Good to know about Mannington

Why Mannington flooring Edmonton homeowners ask about

The two ADURA lines we carry solve different problems. ADURA Max is a thick, waterproof floating floor for busy rooms. ADURA Flex is a glue-down floor that can run through a whole open plan without transition strips. Between them they cover most of the rooms in a typical Edmonton home. Mannington says every ADURA floor has Microban surface protection.

ADURA Max

ADURA Max is an expanded polymer core floor, also known as WPC. Mannington says it uses a thicker, more rigid waterproof core called HydroLoc, and that it dampens sound by 30%, which helps in multi-storey homes, media rooms and kids' play areas. It also feels softer underfoot. Mannington says ADURA Max can be installed over existing hard surface floors, including tile with grout lines, and it comes in planks and tiles.

ADURA Flex

ADURA Flex is a traditional glue-down luxury vinyl tile floor. Mannington says it can be installed in long runs without transition strips, which suits open floor plans, and that cabinets can be installed on top of it. It has Mannington's ScratchResist X wear layer. Wood looks can be laid in herringbone, and tile looks as subway tile, with or without grout. Mannington also points to it for homes with seniors or people with special needs, where a floor without strips between rooms is easier to move across.

Choosing between a floating and a glue-down floor

A floating floor like ADURA Max goes down quickly and can often go over an existing hard floor, which saves demolition. A glue-down floor like ADURA Flex is fixed to the subfloor, so it can run long distances, carry cabinets and take patterns like herringbone. The right answer depends on the subfloor, the layout and how the room is used. Our luxury vinyl plank flooring page explains how LVP compares with other materials and what we check before we quote.

Edmonton conditions

Edmonton entries take snow, salt and gravel for half the year, and basements sit on concrete that can carry moisture. We check the concrete and the subfloor before any vinyl goes down, because a floor only performs as well as what is under it. Good entry matting does a lot to keep grit off any floor.

Questions to bring to the showroom

Which rooms are you doing, and do you want one floor running through all of them? Is there an existing tile or vinyl floor you'd rather not tear out? Are there pets, kids or a home gym? Bring a rough floor plan and photos, and we can tell you whether ADURA Max or ADURA Flex fits the job better.
