Good to know about Shaw Floors
Why Shaw Floors flooring Edmonton homeowners ask about
Shaw's luxury vinyl range is broad. Its own site groups it into the Luxury Vinyl Classic Series, the Luxury Vinyl Pro Series and Pet Perfect Luxury Vinyl, in plank and tile formats, with both floating (glueless) and direct-glue installation. That spread makes it easy to match a floor to the room rather than the other way round.
Titan HD Plus
Titan HD Plus is part of Shaw's Luxury Vinyl Classic Series, and Shaw describes its construction as WPC. The Titan HD Plus Platinum planks are 9 inches wide and 72 inches long, 12 mm thick, with a 30 mil wear layer and an attached IXPE underlayment. Shaw lists them as 100% waterproof, rated for installation above, on and below grade, and suited to direct glue or a floating install. Shaw says the thicker profile gives "a more substantial feel underfoot."
Floorté and Floorté Pro
Alongside Titan HD Plus, we carry Shaw's Floorté resilient flooring and the Floorté Pro series. Shaw's current site sorts its vinyl by series rather than by those names, so the easiest way to compare the Floorté and Floorté Pro styles is with the samples in front of you at our showroom.
Choosing luxury vinyl for your home
Luxury vinyl is a practical floor for kitchens, entries, laundry rooms and basements, where water and grit are part of daily life. A thicker plank with an attached underlayment is quicker to install and quieter underfoot, while a direct-glue floor suits large open areas and commercial-style traffic. Our luxury vinyl plank flooring page explains how LVP compares with laminate, hardwood and tile, and what we check before we quote.
Edmonton conditions
Edmonton homes swing from dry winter heat to humid summers, and entries take snow, salt and gravel for months at a time. A waterproof vinyl that is rated below grade is a sensible fit for a basement over concrete, as long as the slab is flat and dry. We test the concrete for moisture and flatness first, because even a rigid plank will telegraph dips and ridges in the floor beneath it.
Questions to bring to the showroom
A few answers help us narrow the choice quickly. Which rooms are you doing, and is any of it below grade? Do you have pets or kids who are hard on floors? Do you want a floor that floats, or one glued down? What is under the current floor? Bring a rough floor plan and a few photos, and we can lay out two or three Shaw samples side by side in the light you'll be living with.
