Magna flooring in Edmonton

Magna covers a lot of ground under one name. You can put real-wood-surfaced VSPC on a main floor, rigid core vinyl in a basement and laminate in the bedrooms, and plan the whole house from one supplier's range. Its VSPC line in particular is a different kind of product that's worth seeing in person.

Magna's MBA Luxury Vinyl collection is a rigid core luxury vinyl plank. Magna also offers an MBA WPC collection and an MBA Dryback glue-down vinyl. Vinyl is the floor we recommend most often for rooms that see water, pets and kids. In a basement we check the concrete first, so any moisture issue is dealt with before the floor goes down.

VSPC, or Veneer SPC, puts a real hardwood surface on Magna's MBA SPC core. Magna says it is 7 mm thick with the Välinge 5G locking system, has IXPE backing for sound isolation and is water resistant for up to 12 hours. It uses American white oak, hickory and walnut.

Magna's MBA Luxury Laminate and Canadian Designer's Choice Laminate collections give a wood look with a hard surface. Magna also groups its laminate under waterproof laminate flooring. Laminate usually feels more like wood underfoot than vinyl and suits main floors, hallways and bedrooms.

Real-wood surface or not is the first question. If you want genuine hardwood on top, look at VSPC; our hardwood flooring page explains how it compares with engineered and solid wood. If water is the concern, rigid core vinyl is usually the safer pick, and our luxury vinyl plank flooring page covers it. Edmonton's dry winters are worth discussing for anything with a wood surface.

Magna publishes installation and warranty documents for its floors. See the manufacturer's warranty for the exact product you choose, and we'll help you find it.

A few questions make a visit faster and the choice easier. Which rooms are you doing, and do any of them see water, such as a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room or basement? Do you have pets or young kids? Is the subfloor wood or a concrete slab, and does any part of it squeak or dip? Are stairs part of the job? Bring rough room sizes or a floor plan if you have one, and a photo of the room in daylight. With those answers we can usually narrow a wall of samples down to three or four that genuinely fit.
