The stone core collections
Stone core is a rigid style of vinyl flooring. Instead of a flexible vinyl body, each plank is built on a dense mineral core, which keeps it flat and steady. Kennedy groups its stone core floors under three names: Simply Stone, Shamrock Surfaces and Embrace.
Simply Stone
Classic Heritage, Manor and Wood, Natural Wood, and a 12" x 24" Tile.
Embrace
Classic Timber, a long wide board, and Classic Herringbone.
Shamrock Surfaces
Solar and Harbour, in 6.5 mm and 5 mm.

Good to know about Stone Core
What Kennedy says about its stone core
According to Kennedy's own product page, the whole stone core range shares these points:
fully waterproof
made from virgin material only, with no fillers or recycled content
stays dimensionally stable from -40 °C to +40 °C
can be laid as one continuous floor up to 100 by 100 feet (10,000 square feet)
approved for use over in-floor radiant heat
a commercial-grade wear layer, embossed in register with the print, that resists scratches, stains and UV, with added slip control
a floating click-lock system, so no glue is needed
That 10,000 square foot figure matters if you're planning one floor through a whole open main level. Many floating floors need transition strips at doorways or every so many feet; check the installation guide for the exact product, but this range is designed to go bigger than most.

A few things stand out. Classic Manor and Classic Wood come in mixed lengths, which reads more like a traditional plank floor. Embrace Classic Timber is a long, wide board for a big room. Embrace Classic Herringbone lets you lay a herringbone pattern without real wood. And Simply Stone Tile is a 12" x 24" format if you want a stone look in an entry or bathroom.
Kennedy publishes warranty levels for each collection. Ask us for the manufacturer's warranty document for the one you choose and we'll go through it with you.
Where it fits in an Edmonton home
Basements. As general advice, a waterproof rigid floor is a sensible choice below grade, provided the concrete is dry and flat. We check moisture and flatness before every install.
Main floors over in-floor heat. Kennedy approves this range for radiant heating, which suits newer Edmonton builds and basement renovations with heated slabs.
Kitchens and entries. Waterproof and stain-resistant, so winter slush and dropped spaghetti sauce are less of a worry.
Herringbone feature rooms. Embrace Classic Herringbone gives a dining room or front hall a statement floor.
Thicker isn't always better for every room, so we'll help you weigh 8 mm against 6.5 mm or 5 mm based on the subfloor and how the room is used.
Installing stone core with LCF
Our own in-house crews do the install. We look at the subfloor, plan the layout and transitions, and handle the trim. Read more on our luxury vinyl plank flooring page.
