Each has its own set of colours, textures and plank sizes. Laminate looks very different under a showroom light than it does in a photo, so the easiest way to narrow it down is to bring a cabinet door, a paint chip or a picture of your room and lay a few planks next to it.

Laminate or vinyl?

This is the question we hear most. Both give you a wood look at a lower cost than hardwood. Laminate tends to have a firmer, more wood-like feel underfoot, and TORLYS sells this line as highly scratch-resistant. Vinyl is the usual pick for basements and bathrooms. The pieces that finish it

TORLYS makes accessories designed for this line. On the trim side there's Smart-T Plus moulding, SmartNosing, Incizo 5-in-1 moulding, and SmartTread stair treads made from a floor plank, available as a kit or with right and left returns. There's also the Bulldog Easy Plank Replacer for swapping out one damaged plank.

Underlay makes a real difference with laminate, especially for sound. TORLYS offers several options, including Acoustik (a sound-rated underlay with antimicrobial protection), XV (a budget option with moisture and sound control), 3-in-1 Foam with a moisture barrier, Safe and Sound 5-in-1, and Cork Natural.
